Monica Förster is one of Sweden’s most notable designers. She has won countless awards for her designs and works with clients around the world. Gense, Alessi and Rörstrand are just a few examples of brands that have managed to collaborate with Sweden's untouched design queen.
Monica Förster grew up near the polar circle, in the northern town of Dorotea, Sweden. Even today, the nature surrounding her childhood home is a great source of inspiration for Monica Förster. Her designs are characterised by a simple expression and constant curiosity of new materials and new technology. Monica Förster has said she is not interested in form and that she believes that the idea behind each project is more important than the design itself. As soon as the idea is complete, she focuses on colour, shape and detail. The design is a result of emotions and contradictions that together create something new, strong, useful and poetic.
Her credit list spans both small and large projects. Monica Förster has designed everything from cutlery and crockery to furniture, lighting and industrial chairs. She is a multifaceted designer and problem solver for whom nothing is impossible.
